Decoupaged Soap

Soap makes a perfect surface for decoupage. Use any image that you have from tissue paper, wrapping paper, printed image, or sticker. You could even photo copy a photograph of a loved one to decoupage on soap.

Supply List

  • Bar of Soap (Try to find an bar of soap that doesn't have logos indented; a smooth soap surface will work much better.)
  • Image to Decoupage
  • White Glue (We used Elmers.)
  • Paraffin Wax

  • Sponge Brush
  • Double Boiler

  1. Use your sponge brush to glue the image to the top of the bar of soap. Wash off the sponge brush because we will be using it again.
  2. Completely melt the wax in the double boiler. Never place wax directly on your heat source because it presents a fire hazard.
  3. When the wax has melted, dip the bar of soap image side down into the wax. This step will form a seal over the image of your soap. That way when the soap is used, the top with the image will stay intact while the soap is used away from the bottom.
  4. If your first dip has bubbles, you can dip the soap a second time. I wouldn't try to dip it more than twice since at that point the wax will start to get opaque and will cloud your image.
