Supply List

  • Coffee Filters
  • Food Coloring
  • Skewer
  • Waxed Paper

Equipment

  • Dish with an inch or so of water
  • Scissors
  • Tape

Instructions

  1. Add a few drops of food coloring to the dish with water.
  2. Crumple up the coffee filters and place them in the water for a few minutes.
  3. Remove the coffee filters from the water. Spread them out to dry on a piece of waxed paper. It will only take about 15 minutes for them to dry.
  4. Fold the coffee filter in half and then in half once more. Cut off the point of the quartered coffee filter about an inch from the end. At the top of the coffee filter cut a wavy line to be the petals of the rose.
  5. Cut from the center to the outside edge of the filter and then wrap and scrunch the filter around the skewer. When it's completely wrapped, use a piece of tape to secure the filter to the skewer.
  6. Continue wrapping filters around the skewer until the rose is as big as you want.
